We promise these locations aren't as sinister as they sound. Around 5km from Grand Baie sits the picturesque location of Cap Malheureux. Sitting at the most northerly point of the mainland, this enchanting small city offers attractions like Bain Boeuf Public Beach or take a tour around the quaint Notre-Dame Auxiliatrice Church or Red-Top Church site.
The Islets of Mauritius
Meanwhile, Gunner's Quoin, Round Island, Flat Island, Gabriel Island and Serpent Island rest just off the mainland. The coast around Mauritius is dotted with a collection of tiny atolls known as the Islets of Mauritius. Most of these specks of land are uninhabited but the quintet just off the northern coast are a hotbed of local biodiversity. In the bustling walkways of the bazaar you'll find hundreds of stalls dedicated to everything from street food to crafts and souvenirs. Some of the vendors in this market have been plying their trade for years.
