Take a visit to Tanah Lot Temple

Tanah Lot roughly translates as Land in the Sea. This ancient Hindu shrine is one of the most iconic temples in Bali. Renowned for its unique offshore setting it is widely regarded as one of the best places to see the sunset on the island. Surrounded by crashing waves the temple stands majestically on a large rock overlooking the Indian Ocean.

The temple was built to worship the god of the sea and is still frequented by praying pilgrims. The main temple is surrounded by smaller shrines, plus there’s the usual tourist facilities like restaurants and shops. If you get chance, try to time your visit around one of the cultural dances that take place regularly.

This bustling street is fondly referred to as Eat Street due to an abundance of eateries offering up oodles of traditional Balinese cuisine for you to savour. There are so many restaurants the only difficult decision is choosing which one to eat at. Hunger pangs will strike as you see all the tasty treats and smell the scrumptious flavours in the air. As well as all the amazing food choices the street is also home to numerous shops, so it’s a great way to spend an evening browsing if you can be tempted away from the delicious food.

Pura Petitenget

Another one of the famous temples in Bali worth checking out whilst in Seminyak is the 16th century Hindu temple Pura Petitenget. It’s a really important temple and still plays host to religious ceremonies throughout the year. Hidden away from the designer boutiques and stylish restaurants lies this ancient sea temple. There’s a real feeling of antiquity here with numerous shrines in the courtyard adorned with ornate offerings. The name Petitenget translates as ‘magic box’ and locals believe the temple will protect them from the sea.
