Gaze at the Blue Caves

As one of the most popular attractions in Zante, this is a must-do on your list.

The azure waters reflect upon limestone cave walls along the North-West coast of the island. Thus creating the beautiful Blue Caves.

Just a few minutes boat ride from the harbour of Skinari, you can take a trip to these mesmerising caves.

Anything that is below the water, appears to turn blue- even people! However, it’s important to note that swimming is forbidden in the main Blue Caves. This is due to the amount of boats that pass through the caves.

Visit Shipwreck Cove

With a name of Shipwreck Cove, you can probably guess what you’ll find at this location. A shipwreck, on a cove! It’s also known as Navagio Beach.

This secluded bay is surrounded by white cliffs, hiding the secret treasures of the beach until you come around the corner.

You can only access the beach by boat, but you can enjoy the dazzling waters and views as you make your way there.

Once on the beach, the rusting ship stands tall in the middle of the shingle beach. After appearing on the beach in the 1980’s, there are various stories about where the boat came from.

Bear in mind that there aren’t any facilities once you’re at the beach. Ensure you have packed everything that you’ll need for a day out. Drinks, snacks, sun cream and something to provide shade.

Check out Gerakas Beach

On the most southern beach of the island, you can expect soft golden sands, emerald waters, and even turtles!

Gerakas Beach is a stunning beach with mesmerising scenery. As stated, loggerhead turtles use the beach as a nesting site, so some of it is roped off at times.

It is actually possible to see the hatching of the eggs. From May to October, during the early hours of the morning, this amazing spectacle occurs and the newborns make their way to the ocean.

Being respectful to the beach and it’s land is important. After all, it is the real home for these magnificent creatures, and we are the guests!

Explore Venetian Castle

Situated above the city on a hill, is a spectacular 15th century castle. With fantastic views of Zante, plus the chance to explore this Venetian Castle for free, why not make your way there.

You can enjoy a serene stroll around the castle, as the grounds are quiet compared to down in the main city. At the entrance you can see the 17th-century Winged Lion of Saint Mark which is a symbol of the Venetian Empire.

Although the castle is damaged, you can still make out some of the rooms of the building. For example inside the castle there are still remains of some old prison cells.

It’s a great spot to take yourself away from the town and to just relax. There is a viewing platform where you can look out over the glistening ocean too.

Discover Keri Caves

Another set of striking caves are Keri caves, located on the southern and southwestern part of the Keri peninsula. Once again, they can only be accessed by making your way across in a boat.

When you are there you can enjoy the fantastic views of the caves, and also the chance to swim inside the cave. There’s a variety of fish ready to be discovered, so be sure to bring a mask along with you.

Relax on Banana Beach

The largest beach in Zante offers the perfect place to chill out under the sunshine. With plenty of umbrellas, sun loungers, and bars to keep you hydrated, why wouldn’t you want to make a trip to Banana Beach?

Not only is it a fantastic spot for relaxing, but if you’re looking for an adrenaline rush, check out the water sports.  With jet skis, banana boats, parasailing and much more, your day will be full of fun.

With it’s easy access, plenty of space, parking and great facilities, it’s easy to see why it’s one of the most popular beaches in Zante.

Boat Tour Around the Island

Why not take a boat tour around the island and see all of the sights on one amazing trip?

As you make your way across the Ionian Sea, you can make the most of regular stops where you take a dip in the turquoise waters. There’s also the chance to spot some wildlife. Whether it’s swimming amongst the vibrant fish, or spotting loggerhead turtles, dolphins and sea eagles.

There also day tours available where you can hop off to nearby islands. Including the beautiful Kefalonia, just a short ride away from Zante. You can experience Kefalonia in just one day, which is why it’s so popular amongst tourists.

Stroll Around Anafonitria Monastery

If you’re looking to add a bit of culture and history to your trip, the Anafonitria Monastery was founded in the 15th Century and is a stunning piece of architecture.

With a tower, archway and a stone courtyard, there is a tranquil atmosphere throughout the whole area.

There are potted plants and trees dotted alongside the structure. It’s the perfect area for those looking to capture a picturesque snap for the gram.
