Even beyond that, if you visit the Bahrain National Museum, you can see artefacts that are roughly 9,000 years old. For slightly more recent history, pay a visit to the Al Khamis Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in the Middle East, dating back to the 11th century. One of the country’s most unique sites is the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Pearling Path, which showcases the country’s historic pearl industry, once at the heart of Bahrain’s culture.
Enjoy flavour-packed Bahraini cooking
Bahraini cuisine is a vibrant fusion of flavours and dishes from Middle Eastern, Indian and African cultures. Try hearty biryani, fragrant machboos cooked in spiced chicken broth and fluffy zalabia soaked in saffron syrup.
