Itinerary

Our escorted tours to Petra and Jordan are organised via an itinerary which comes loaded with unique experiences, popular landmarks and ample time for solo discovery.

This ensures you stand the best chance of seeing all the best sites in this awesome locale, as well as offering the chance for you to craft your own memories.

Day 1 – Transfer to Wadi Rum

This particular Petra and Jordan tour kicks off in Aqaba before you’re whisked away, via private transfer, to the Wadi Rum desert.

Be completely immersed in this remote environment and take the time to truly switch off from the distractions of everyday life. While you’re taking in the stunning and unique local environment you will also be able to dine on traditional fare, cooked the Bedouin way.

Day 2 – Wadi Rum

After your first night in the desert, you’ll be spending your first full day at Wadi Moon – also known as the “Valley of the Moon”.

On day 2 of your Jordan tour of Petra and Wadi Rum, you’ll juxtapose the modern with the ancient. Your day will start with a Jeep safari across the dunes before stopping at remote canyons to witness ancient Thamudic cave drawings.

You’ll follow that magical morning up with free time in the afternoon and a magical evening of more Bedouin grub and sensational star gazing. There will also be a demonstration on how to pitch a traditional Bedouin tent.

Day 3 – Dead Sea

Move from the desert to the coast. After taking in the stunning Wadi Al Mujib rock formations you’ll have the chance to travel 430m below sea level to the shores of Dead Sea.

But there’s more than just the location which keep this sea feeling unique. It’s oxygen-enriched atmosphere and mineral-loaded water allows you to float on the surface. Those minerals also permeate the mud around the water, giving the gloop restorative properties.

Spend your day exploring this ancient biblical site before retiring to the Ramada Resort Dead Sea in the evening for your dinner and bed.

Day 4 – Jerash, Ajloun Castle, Amman

After your day at the Dead Sea, it’s time to move on again. This time you’re heading for the “Pompeii of the East”. Jerash is the best-preserved Roman City outside of Italy.

When you’ve spent some time exploring this gorgeous location, the tour move 22km west to Ajloun Castle. This 12th century fortification was built by the sultan and military leader Saladin who fought against the Christian army during the Crusades.

As well as providing a unique glimpse into the area’s storied past, from its lofty perch on Mount ‘Auf or Jabal Auf, Ajlou Castle also boasts stunning views out over the surrounding landscape.

Following your trip to the castle, you finish the day in Amman - the capital of Jordan, where you have some free time to get out and explore more.

Day 5 – Amman

If you didn’t get chance to see everything you wanted to in Amman last night, don’t worry, day 5 of this Jordan tour with Petra, Wadi Rum & the Dead Sea takes you deeper into the capital.

Discover the kaleidoscopic Old Market area, Hercules' temple, the Byzantine church, and the Roman theatre during your odyssey.

The afternoon is free to explore more of the best things to do in Amman. We recommend visiting King Abdullah I Mosque, the Amman Citadel and any of the incredible cafés – you need to try a falafel while you’re in town too.

Day 6 – Dana Eco Walk, Petra by Night

Leaving the gorgeous city of Amman in your wake, the next stop on our Best of Jordan Tour is the lush surrounds of the Dana Nature Reserve.

Enjoy a 2-hour eco walk and meet a representative of the local Dana Cooperative, who talks more about conservationism and their sustainable tourism initiatives.

After the tranquillity of the reserve you end the day by transferring to Petra and enjoying the Petra by Night experience.

Day 7 – Petra

The tour finishes with a real flourish as you have the chance to explore an actual New Wonder of the World.

Head out on a guided tour of this ancient sandstone city, built by the Nabatens back in 312BC. Unwrap its mysteries by exploring the Treasury, Royal Tombs, Churches, and Temples in one of the oldest cities in the world.

After you spend the evening with more free exploration time, you’ll be welcomed to a farewell dinner before setting course back to Aqaba.

Day 8 – Transfer to Aqaba Airport

Say goodbye to this ancient place. Your Jordan Petra Tour is over and it’s time to head back to the airport.
