A bit about Grand River South East

Despite it's name, Grand River South East is actually reasonably centrally located along the east coast of Mauritius.

Things to do in Grand River South East

On the fringes of the Grand Port mountains around 40km from another east coast haven, Blue Bay, Grand River South East (GRSE) presents a slightly more rugged and green landscape than that of the more built-up west coast.

Top beaches in Grand River South East

While the green heartlands are probably where most of the activities in this area remain, there are also some staggering beaches in Grand River South East. 13km up the coast from central GRSE is Palmar Beach. This public stretch of sand places you on the white powder staring out into the calm azure waters of the Indian Ocean. Or if you prefer a slightly more local spot, then resort of Trou d'Eau Douce offers more impressive beaches just 10km away.

Go chasing waterfalls

The main activity in GRSE is getting into nature and hiking your way to the gorgeous local waterfall. The tour to this magical location sees you tour the roads which intersect the local villages before spilling out on to a beach. From here you'll head off on foot into the tropical heartlands of Mauritius.

Hop over to Île aux Cerfs

If you decide on a holiday in Grand River South East, you should also think about crossing the lagoon on a dazzling day trip to Île aux Cerfs. It may only be a small island off the mainland, but here you'll find beautiful beaches, incredible water sports and a world-class golf course. Golf is a big pastime in Mauritius, and this stunning course has been lovingly designed by two-time Masters champion Bernhard Langer.
