A bit about Pamplemousses District

Hooked over the north-western corner of Mauritius, the Pamplemousses District takes its name from the French word for grapefruit. Home to the Jardin Botanique Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam and its famed lotus gardens, spice groves and palm trees, Pamplemousses is defined by its lowland plains, where indentured workers built sculptures from volcanic rock in the sugar cane fields.
